According to MSG, 8gb max: two 4gb sticks of exact same configuration ,speed, voltage in two slots as each other and as given in manual

Unfortunately the two links you sent conflict, because in one link the HP list of available memory is shown as 2, 4, 8 gig sticks, and in the second link the machine specifications list 6 gig. After a moment of pause, it is impossible to use two identical sticks of 2, 4, or 8 gig in order to come up with 6, and other online memory resellers offer up to 16 gig for that identical machine listing the specific product number for reference. The Amazon resellers are all offering two identical 8 gig sticks for my machine --- and yet it seems your links are not dealing with my specific question as to maximum allowed memory. Two identical sticks sounds reasonable, but I can not find anywhere it actually says maximum ram memory 8 gig using two 4 gig sticks. 

It makes no sense that a half dozen ram memory resellers on Amazon offer up to 16 gig using two 8 gig sticks for that specific machine. 

Does anyone have an HP determination what maximum memory is for this machine?

Manual is what I can suggest you to go for.

The manual is not specific and in no way determines my specific question. The manual is written for all potential configuration and very poorly written by not informing of the maximum allowed memory. The manual lists three choices 2, 4, 8 but does not suggest a requirement of two sticks, does not require identical stick sizes and I am certain that is how I ended up with 6 gig of memory because a 2 gig stick and a 4 gig stick equals 6 gig. The manual is worthless because it is a generic publication which only speaks generally and does not say MAXIMUM 8 GIG. 

I was hoping an HP FORUM would be monitored by HP EMPLOYEES who actually know and not guessing. Your icon says you are an HP EXPERT but each time you write you point me to links which are not in the least certain, do not tell me the maximum memory, and the manual is certainly not conclusive. If the resellers online are selling through AMAZON and doing millions of dollars of business offering two sticks of 8 gig totaling 16 gigs why is your guess of limited to 8 make sense --- especially when you sent two links which defeat your specific determinations. 

You are clearly not an HP EXPERT because your guess work is certainly not correct. I can buy 2, 4, or 8 gig sticks and my machine has 6 gig so clearly your guidance is wrong because I am not required to have two identical matching memory sticks. You also sent me two links and both of those links defeat the guidance you gave me because my machine specifications clearly declare 6 gig which is true --- but there is not way to create 6 gig using two of the identical memory chips because the sticks are only sold in 2, 4, or 8 gig sticks.

Please stop responding and stop wasting my time and do everyone a favor and stop calling yourself an HP EXPERT because your guess work is completely off-base and cleary inaccurate. 

Finally, you've posted 9,468 times so I can not help thinking how many thousands of hours you have wasted guessing in prior posts. 

You area a volunteer and don't work for HP but you post misleading guidance and guess and every guess was incorrect and inconsistent with reality and no accurate plus you sent two links which defeat one another. 

Does this HP Forum actually have an expert on board to end this nonsensical waste of time?

Your laptop came with Intel core processor and 6gb RAM (4+2)

According to Manual which I posted previously, you can upgrade to total RAM 8gb with two 4gb sticks (dual channel boost), which I could guarantee would work successfully: if they are exact same configuration, speed and voltage

There are memory module sellers like crucial that provide online scanners, which after scanning your machine does list guaranteed upgrades. I use this in one of my notebooks where Manual was inconclusive.

I would suggest solutions and help members coming here, only after I can confirm that my solution would definitely work.

All of us helping here can suggest these solutions only after double confirming so that we do not give unnecessary hopes of upgrade without valid evidence to support

Since this is not official HP technical support, your only option to get an official answer is correct them directly.

8Gb isn't enough RAM to put in a amoeba's hiney.  6 is even worse.  Order two 8Gb (with correct voltage) and give it a shot.  If it doesn't work, use the notebook for a doorstop and get in the 21st century with a new laptop that can handle 16 Gb.
