You're very welcome.

I'm thinking that the service manual is incorrect, which is why I gave you the link to the crucial website info.

Crucial indicates the max is 16 GB and I have a HP 350 G1 with the same processor as yours, and mine is happily running 16 GB of memory.

Anyway, if you don't want to take the chance that an 8 GB module won't work (but I think it will), just get another 4 GB memory module so that the PC's memory runs in DDR mode.

However, if you get an 8 GB memory chip and the PC runs fine with 12 GB, then you will know for a fact that it will run with 16 GB too.

Hi:

Below is the link to the crucial memory upgrade site where it gives the memory upgrade info for 250 G3's with Intel core processors.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-250-g3-%28core-i5-i3%29

I would suggest that you either install 2 x 4 GB of memory or 2 x 8 GB of memory so that the memory runs in the better performing DDR mode.

The 12 GB configuration you want to end up with will only let the memory run in the less performing single data rate (SDR) mode.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory R & R procedure.

Hey Paul, thanks for responding

the link to Hp guidelines says this,

Memory :

1 or 2 customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (depending on model)

DDR3L-1600-MHz Dual Channel Support

DDR3L-1333-MHz Dual Channel Support

(DDR3-1600 downgrade to DDR3-1333)

DDR3L-1066-MHz Dual Channel Support

(DDR3-1600 downgrade to DDR3-1066)

Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:

● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)

● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1 + 2048×1)

● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)

● 2048-MB total system memory (2048×1)

this means only i can upgrade to maxiumu of 8 Gigs of ram or i ca go upto 16 gigs, it doesn't clarify that
