Its officially 8 gigs. Here is the Service Manual:
Uses DDR3L-1600 So-DIMM which will run in single channel mode.
4 GB 691740-005
Above is the part number for the 4 gig module.
It might run 16 gigs. Use this command line inquiry as outlined in this article to check the motherboard for maximum memory capacity

Here are the 4 gig modules or 8 gig modules. This is Timetec which is the amazon house brand made by Hynix which is in every way equal to original HP memory
