I need to upgrade the RAM in my HP 17 laptop. On the HP webpage for hardware detection it shows as an HP Laptop 17-cn2083dx (9P521UA.). The HP Assistant app shows it as an HP 17 Laptop PC17-c2000 (4V791AV), so it's confusing as to the real name for this laptop.
For the cn2000, I have found three different specs on different webpages: 16GB max, 32GB max, and 64GB max.
The question is, what is the maximum memory I can use on this laptop?
Thanks.

The HP service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB:
It is for the 17-cn1xxx model series, but it is the most recent one HP has and they won't be updating it.

I recommend that you run this command to see how much memory Windows indicates your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Here's a related discission, but the person did not report the results of installing 64 GB of memory.
