Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've recently upgraded my laptop's RAM from 1*8 gb 2400 mHz to 2*8 gb 2400 mHz. According to crucial.com and the maintenance guide, the maximum supported RAM is 16 gb (2 sticks of 8 gb) so I went with that.  However, when I opened HP Support Assistant I read somewhere that the maximum memory was 32 gb. I have tried  recently to find that information again but I can't figure out how I got there. Why is there a discrepancy? Could my laptop support actually 32 gb of RAM?  I don't know how to figure this out other than buying a stick of 16 gb and installing it by itself and seeing what the computer reads it as (if it does at all). Any thoughts?

Hi:

 

I usually go with what crucial indicates.

 

But if you saw a report from the support assistant that the PC could support 32 GB of memory, it is not out of the realm of possibility that yours can too.

 

Here is a crucial report on the HP 15-db1022la notebook, and they say it supports 32 GB of memory.

So it would be a gamble on your part to toss in a 16 GB chip, but not a 100% shot in the dark.
