Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K3AV)

Hi everyone,

I have an HP Victus 15-fa0001nk with an i7-12700H processor (2022 model). According to the system information, it indicates that my laptop can support up to 64GB of RAM. However, I want to confirm this before making a purchase.

I've already run the command wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and the output shows 67,108,864 KB (64GB), but the official documentation suggests a maximum of 16GB.

Can anyone with experience or knowledge about this specific model confirm if it indeed supports up to 64GB of RAM? Also, any recommendations for compatible RAM modules would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!.

Hi @stounix,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Victus 15-fa0001nk with an Intel Core i7-12700H processor can technically support up to 64GB of RAM, as the i7-12700H chipset itself can handle up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM (based on Intel’s official specifications). The discrepancy you're seeing in the official HP documentation, which suggests a maximum of 16GB, could be due to limitations set by the specific configuration of the laptop or the standard configuration options offered by HP for this model.

However, based on the output you received from the wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx command, which shows 64GB as the maximum supported RAM, it is reasonable to conclude that your laptop can indeed support up to 64GB of RAM, assuming you are using compatible hardware.

For compatible RAM, here are some general recommendations:

  • DDR4 3200 MHz should be the recommended memory type and speed, as the i7-12700H processor supports this speed.
  • Ensure that the RAM modules are of laptop form factor (SO-DIMM), not desktop form factor.
  • Stick with reputable brands like Corsair, Kingston, or Crucial for reliability.

It's also a good idea to check the HP Victus 15-fa0001nk's specific motherboard specifications (often available through support or user manuals) to verify that it can accommodate two 32GB RAM modules for the total 64GB setup if you plan on upgrading both slots

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
