"HP 1000" covers several models. Can you find the full model number? Here is some help with that:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2039298-1862169-16
The HP 1000-1xxx series models, for example will take 8 gb of DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM memory in 2 x 4 gb modules.
Here is the Service Manual:
Memory requirements are on page 3 and installation instructions are on page 48.
Here is memory you can buy:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=HP%201000-1129TU
Both the AMD and Intel models in the HP 1000-1xxx series use the same memory and can take up to 8 gb. As long as you get high quality compatible memory you should not blue screen. That is why it is a good idea to buy from crucial.com. And that series will also run 64 bit Windows.

You can't do that, because the graphics card are pre-build with your motherboard, you have to change all part of your motherboard such as processor,it's same as you buy a new laptop. except you're using a desktop computer

please excuse me for joining the discussion.
my hp 1000 laptop is of 1b09AU model (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04262250) with 2 gigabytes of initial memory.
i was trying to upgrade the memory, but i saw only 1 memory slot.
is it true that this model has only 1 memory slot, or is there another slot somewhere ?
how many gigabytes are the maximum capacity of memory for this hp 1000-1b09AU model ?
thank you in advance.

Don't tack on to old posts if you want the best chance of someone helping you.
But see p. 52 of the Manual here:
It says there are 2 memory slots but they are stacked on top of each other and may look like only one unless you look closely. Max memory is said to be 8 gigs but it also says you can install a single 8 gig module which leads me to believe it might be possible to have 16 gigs of RAM but I am not going to guarantee that. It's also odd that your processor is not listed in the Manual and I wonder if HP has actually posted the correct manual on the support page.

thank you, sir. i thought creating a new thread when similar topics were already discussed is not permitted, just like in forums. but thanks anyway for the response.
i already downloaded and read the manual.
i am also pretty sure that i just saw 1 slot.
my notebook model is not listed in the manual, that's why i asked the question here, on the same HP 1000 thread.
thanks again, sir.

This is an old laptop and is not really a good platform for any kind of upgrades except maybe memory. Please start your own thread and we can walk you through any upgrades you want to try and comparte the cost of upgrade vs. a new laptop better than any upgrade you can apply to this one.
