We need to upgrade the RAM in this system to 16GB. The HD is 256 GB Intel SDD. I did not see on the products page what the max RAM is for this unit. I've read elsewhere that the max RAM for similar units (HD 256 GB) is 12 GB. If it is 12 GB max, would I need to upgrade the HD to 512 GB to reach a max RAM potential of 16 GB? Please advise and thank you.

Hi:
Below is the link to the crucial memory report for your notebook.
According to the report, you could install up to 2 x 32 GB of memory.
The SSD capacity would have nothing to do with increasing the memory capacity.
If you installed a 512 GB SSD, you would still have 8 GB of memory.
HP has the old service manual on the support page for your model series that only covers the models with the 8th gen Intel core processors.

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info. HP indicates that 2 x 8 GB is the max.
Since your goal was to increase the memory from 8 GB to 16 GB, you can do that with no problem by adding an 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip in the empty memory slot.
