HP - 15-ay508ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello i have notebook with 4GB of RAM installed in 1 module and one DDR4 slot is free inside my notebook. I inserted an additional new 8GB DDR4 module, but notebook don't boot (blink CAPS led); also removing "old module 4GB" and insert only new module, notebook don't boot. New module 8GB work in another Notebook.

The problem may be maximum q.ty of memory accepted from this Notebook is 4GB, or may be a compatibility issue of new Ram Module?

have you tried runnig the computer with only the 8 gig ram installed?

Yes. Caps led Blinking and notebook don't start....

No the laptop is able to take up to 16 gigs officially and can actually run 2 x 16 gigs of DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM (which "bridges" to 2133 speed). So when you tell us you put in an 8 gig module of DDR4 we really need to know the details. What kind, speed, etc.

Ram module I used is DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM 8GB.

I tried some test:

i tried to add, in addition with existing 4GB, a new 4GB DDR4 module in second slot, and notebook CAPS key blinking and laptop don't boot.

I switched positions of two 4GB modules, issue persist, if i remove RAM from 2nd slot, notebook start (but only using 4GB module).

My Final consideration is It seems like motherboard accept only 4GB of memory.... and with 8GB installed in my notebook, laptop dont' work...

..at this point i think is an hardware issue of motherboard of notebook.

I was asking for a little more detail than that like the manufacturer and model of the RAM chip. Not all DDR4-2400 is the same and HP laptops tend to prefer standard OEM memory and not modules that have fast timings like HyperX or something like that.

I do not know that brand but it seems like plain vanilla memory...I see no specs that would be a problem. Hmmmm????
