Hi All,
The product specifications link of my laptop (1000-1b10AU, product number K5B65PA) is:
There is only 1 user accessible memory slot.
The current RAM's label reads "SKhynix 2GB 1Rx8 PC3L 128000S - 11-12-B2" and "HMT325S6CFR8A - PB N0 AA 1429"
My recently upgraded OS, Ubuntu 16.04 needs a minimum of 4 GB RAM. I'm still deciding on a 4GB or a 8GB single memory stick. There is a "Hynix Hmt451S6Afr8A-Pb 4Gb" model as well as a "Hynix Hmt41gs6bfr8a-pb 2Rx8 Pc3l" memory available.
1. What is the maximum RAM capacity that the single slot will accept?
2. The 8 GB model uses two ranks i.e. "2Rx8". Is this supported by the laptop?
Thanks in advance.

Its has 2 slots and supports 8GB (2x4GB) max. You can use the following lower voltage RAM

Many thanks Bannien for the quick response,
In my original post I has posted the product specifications link.
1. That webpage mentions " Memory Slots 1 user accessible ".
2. Further I took out the RAM and visually verified that there is only one RAM slot. Many YouTube videos for the HP 1000 series show one slot on top of the other. This particular model doesn't.
3. To satisfy myself, I went a step further and lifted & looked under the keyboard and found that there is no RAM slot.
4. Another user with a 1000 series AMD processor laptop, but different model, too found only one slot. Here's the link to his post (He's posted pics too).
Assuming that there is only one slot, 2 questions of the original post remain. Will it take 8GB? The other about 2 rank memory.
Hope to hear from you soon..

Hi,
I ran the following Ubuntu /Linux command below to find out the details about the RAM. It says the max RAM capacity is just 2GB. Additionally, that there are 2 memory slots (But as detailed in my previous post, I just cannot find the second slot.)
Thanks in advance.
sudo dmidecode -t memory
