I see in the maintenance and service guide that my AMD A6 Vision processor model supports a max of 8GB RAM total or 2x4 GB (DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz). I currently have the standard 6GB of factory DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHZ RAM installed with one 4GB module and one 2GB module. I am debating whether to simply replace the 2GB module with a second identical 4GB module for a total of 8GB, or whether I should replace both modules with 2 faster 4GB DDR3 modules. Crucial's website recommends their 2x4GB PC3-12800 DDR 1600 MHZ kit for my upgrade and guarantees it to work. I don't see a lot of value in upgrading from 1333 to just 1600, but I may actually be able to see some benefits if my machine will support higher speeds like 1860 MHZ PC3-14900 or even a 2133 MHZ PC3-17000 if I can find it. Will the motherboard/processor in my machine run higher speed memory like these so long as it is DDR3?
I certainly don't want to spend 3X as much if my machine will just clock it back down to 1333 MHZ anyway.

It will just clock down to 1333 anyway. Get the 4 gig module to replace the 2 gig module and have 8 gigs total. The memory will run about 8% faster in dual channel mode. That does not mean the computer is 8% faster but memory read and write will happen faster and it will be just a little bit noticeable.
