Dear All,

 

What is the maximum RAM supported by HP notebook - 15-r287tu,

currently I have 4gb ddr3 1600mhz in slot 1

I am thinking about max upgrade, plz help

You're very welcome.

 

Ideally, you want to install memory in matched capacity pairs so that it runs in DDR (dual data rate) mode.

 

Installing an 8 GB module + a 4 GB module will work, but that memory configuration will cause the memory to run in SDR (single data rate) mode.

 

So, when you can get the opportunity to replace the 4 GB memory module with an 8 GB one, you will want to do that ASAP for best performance.

 

Some folks may even say it is better to have 2 x 4 GB running in DDR mode than 12 GB running in SDR mode.


But if you eventually plan on getting to 16 GB, then you wouldn't want to waste your money on another 4 GB memory chip.

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1 on page 2.

 

16 GB ( 2 x 8 GB) is the max.

Matching pairs would be best but trying to match the memory installed can be difficult.

 

It would be best to purchase and install a set of matching pairs.

 

It can be expensive but worth it in the long run.
