OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F2AV)

Hello community! My Omen initially came configured with (8 +8)  GB's of RAM.  I upgraded a single slot to 16 GB (3200 MHz, CL22), which made the config. as (8 + 16) GB's, and it has been working perfectly well on both, Windows and Ubuntu 22.04.  I now want to upgrade the other slot as well (with 8 GB) to a single 32 GB stick, effectively having (16 + 32) GB's of memory.  I was wondering if that is supported because HP hasn't seem to have documented it (or atleast from my research online).  I have seen Jarrod from Jarrod Tech on YouTube to have put (32 + 32) on his older version of the Omen (R7 4800H, RTX 2060), which makes me feel like mine should be supported as well (R7 5800H, RTX 3060).  But I really want to be sure before I splurge the money on the RAM.  I would appreciate any help, thanks!

Your laptop will accept a maximum of 32GB of guaranteed compatible installed memory.

For best upgrade results, do not mix and match brands of memory. Upgrade with a pair of identical guaranteed compatible memory modules.

Crucial Memory states they guarantee a pair of their compatible 32 GB modules will give you 64GB of installed memory.

Hello Erico, thanks for your reply.  I do not totally understand.  You say 32 GB is a "guranteed" compatible memory, while agreeing with Crucial, you do say that I can away with 64 GB of memory?  I had looked at those results from their respective sites before asking here, and I was expecting something more concrete.  How should I proceed further?

Regarding the different memory chips, I do not need them to run dual rank.  I just need to have the extra memory when the tasks arise.

I can completely understand what you mean.

I have three sources of reference and two of the three state 32GB.

HP-states 32 GB

Kingston Memory- states 32 GB

Since Crucial guarantees what their marketing states, as long as it is purchased directly from them online, I really can't disagree with them. It is their corporate reputation on the line.

"Regarding the different memory chips, I do not need them to run dual rank"

Memory does not "run" dual or single rank.

Mixing and matching brands and formats can result in only one module being recognized as being usable by the operating system.

That is why using a pair of compatible modules that are same brand and identical in all respects is known as a good practice to follow.

Having memory modules installed that support the dual-channel mode of a system or motherboard, allows a wider and faster data path for the processor.
