Hello,

I am using a 15s-gr0xxx laptop with the following system specifications:

ankit180_0-1747811749644.png

I already have one 8 GB RAM. Can I add one additional 16 GB RAM to make the total RAM size as 24 GB (8+16)?

With regards,
Ankit

Hi, Ankit:

Yes, your notebook can support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4 memory so if you want to install a 16 GB memory chip in the empty slot and have 24 GB, that would be fine.

You can run this command to confirm the notebook will support 32 GB of memory:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Just note that the memory will not run in the higher performing dual channel mode because in order for that to happen you have to install memory of matching capacities in both slots.
