HP PAVILION X360 - 15-CR0001NA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been searching both the user manual and the maintenance manual but can't seem to find out what the maximum ram my laptop is capable of supporting. I have a HP Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0001na with 8gb of ram. I'm out of warranty so will be doing this myself. I opened the laptop to check and only one slot out of 2 is being used. Does this mean I can add another 8gb module or potentially replace both with 16gb module each to make up 32 gb of ram?

Also while I'm at it is there a maximum for any hdd upgrades also? I want to swap in a ssd.

I want to thank anyone who answers in advance as I've been searching everywhere online and on this board but can't seem to find the information I'm looking for.

Max memory on the 8th gen Intel Core system will be 32 gigs (2 x 16) of DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM. The Manual will say 2 x 8 s the max but this is incorrect. There is no max on the SSD other than the availability on the market. Are you thinking 2.5 inch SSD or M.2 "gumstick" SSD?

Thank you for the much needed answer! You've saved me a lot of headache.

I was going to go for a 2.5 inch ssd. I'm not entirely sure my notebook can work with an m.2 ssd. Even so the advantage I'll gain from a 2.5 inch ssd will more than enough suit my needs. Do you think it's worth going for the m.2?

Yes I do. The laptop will take a NVME M.2. Just to give numbers. Hard drive transfers data at about 150 Mbps, SATA SSD whether 2.5 or M.2 at about 500 and NVME over 3000. A 2.5 SATA is very good, an NVME M.2 is awesome.

I'm in exactly the same situation - 15-cr0001na out of warranty few weeks ago so want to upgrade my RAM.

I'm getting contradicting information. Manual says max 12GB, some HP websites says 16GB or 32GB.

I have standard 1x8GB. Can I add 16GB to it (8+16)?

Or does it have to be 8+8 or 16+16?

Is it definitely ok to go over 12GB?

Thanks,

Lucas
