Hi, does somebody know if there is a limit to the m.2 ssd capacity usable on a Probook 450 G7?
Tech Specs are absolutely not clear,, because there you can find the possible options when you buy the notebook from HP, but nowhere is specified if there is a max capacity in case of upgrade.
The same question is valid for the key-type of the m.2 port:
i was using the original "512 GB PCIe + 32 GB Optane memory" m.2 module, and tryed :

- Crucial P3 2TB PCIe 3.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD --> visible in Bios, connected by external usb-c adapter, cloned on it the original ssd ... but on boot "BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND"

- Lexar NM620 SSD 2TB, M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe 1.4 SSD --> visible in Bios, connected by external usb-c adapter, cloned on it the original ssd ... but on boot "BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND"

Again on HP's tech specs there is no info about original M.2 port key type, nor about compatible ones.
Every suggestion or comment is very appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSD's are supported.

Normally, the drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

But there have been rare situations like yours where installing a larger capacity drive than what is listed in the service manual will not work for some reason.

My suggestion would be to:  instead of trying to clone the drive (which has failed twice for you), use the HP cloud recovery client utility to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook on the 2 TB SSD.

Cloud Recovery Client

This package provides the Cloud Recovery Client for supported computer models using a supported operating system. This Client Utility enables users to download the Recovery Kit from the cloud.
