Product: 17-bs0xx Laptop
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to help a friend who has a 17-bs0xx Laptop.  I believe that the problems she has been having is related to RAM.  The unit has 4 GBs.  Does anyone know (a) the maximum memory allowed (b) Number of RAM slots (c) Type of memory it takes?

What is your 17-bs0xx Laptop ? I used the following machine to answer your question because yours is very close specs

 

                 HP Notebook - 17-bs049dx

 

It has 2 slots of RAM and support 32GB (2 x 16GB) max. You can use  (will run at 2133MHz):
