HP 255 G10 AK9N8AT

What is the maximum amout of ram i can install in HP 255 G10 AK9N8AT? CPU of this model supports up to 64 gb of RAM. As far as i know it has two slots for RAM and each supports up to 16 gb unit. Does it mean that i can have only 32 gb of RAM max? What is the bottleneck?

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.

Maintenance and Service Guide

I don't believe that can be right since your notebook does have two memory slots and according to the parts list, it comes with a single 16 GB memory chip, leaving the one slot empty.

HP PartSurfer

Should be no problem to add a second 16 GB memory chip.

As for supporting 64 GB...run this Windows command to see what Windows reports:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates it will support 64 GB (2 x 32 GB).

I cannot find any posts where anyone installed 64 GB of memory in that model notebook and reported it worked, so whether or not 64 GB of memory is guaranteed to work, there is no evidence of that at this time.

Thank you for answering so fast. I have used this command "wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx" and got answer that is equivalent to 32 gb. I hope this mean that they have just forgot to add "2 x 16 GB" line to the "Maintenance and Service Guide". Much love.

You're very welcome.

Surely, the max memory info in the HP service manual is incorrect.
