Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my RAM on my HP Notebook 14-an008na (It supports two slots and i currently have x2 4GB Kingston 1600MHz RAM Chips installed - 8GB in total)
- What is the maximum RAM supported for my model (HP Notebook 14-an008na)?
- Is it ok if I have two different RAM chips (capacity, brand and MHz wise) installed? eg. x1 4GB Kingston 1600MHz and x1 8GB Samsung RAM Chip
-Is any RAM chip supported?
Thanks,
Nez

Hi:
HP & Crucial says you can install a max of 16 GB (2 x 8 GB).

It is OK to have different capacities installed, but it is not a good idea, performance-wise.
If you add another 8 GB memory module to the 4 GB one, you will have 12 GB running in lower performing SDR mode (single data rate)
However, if you install 2 x 8 GB, the memory will run in the better performing dual data rate (DDR) mode.

You can only install a max of 8 GB per slot.
A 16 GB chip would probably not work and if it did, the notebook's memory would run in the lower performing single data rate mode.
2 X 8 would be better even if 1 x 16 GB worked (which it won't).
