Hi,
I am wondering about how much ram can my pavilion dv6 support as I want to upgrade the RAM.
The specs are as follows:
Product name- HP Pavilion dv6-6160se Notebook PC
Serial Number- 5CH1331QCG
SKU Number: QF457EA#ABV
Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz
Operating System-Linux Ubuntu 16.04
Current installed ram- 6GB (1 x 2GB) (1 x 4GB)
Graphics- Radeon Graphics
- On my terminal I ran the following command: "sudo dmidecode -t 16" it showed me my physical memory details and which displayed "Maximum Capacity: 16 GB".
- Then I went to the Product Spesification page here it says :Memory Max: Upgradeable to 8 GB DDR3
- Then I refrenced back to the Maintenance & Service Guide here and if you go down to Chapter 1 page no. 5 of the guide it says that the AMD processor supports 8GB of System Ram and the Intel Processor version (which is my laptop) supports 16 GB of System Ram.
Can any professional personnel tell me exactly how much RAM can my laptop support so that i know exactly how much Ram i should buy?
Regards,
Moataz

It is 16 gigs or 2 of these 8 gig modules:
Memory modules (2, DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz): 8 GB 634091-001
You have found the service manual and the upgrade process is pretty straightforward. Post back if you have any problems.
