Good day!
I have a new gaming laptop just bought recently. Before I start using it completely, I went to run some system components test. All in extensive mode. But all the components passed the test. When I ran a Memory Extensive Test, the first run passed but the second one failed. I reran the Memory Extensive Test again. But all the runs passed. Minutes later, while I was installing Windows and drivers update, a blue screen (BSOD) occurred. I do not know the exact cause of the BSOD as I accidentally deleted the Windows error logs while I was decluttering my storage. Does the failure and pass result of the Memory Extensive Test suggest that there might be a fault in the memory? Or is it because of a conditional issue where you over-stressed the system by doing continuous tests that led the failure to occur?
Thank you in advance!

May I ask again just to be sure, that based on the conditions that occurred in my laptop still needs a warranty claim?
Thank you for your response!
That diagnostics needs to be repeatable for the warranty to apply. If the technician cannot easily repeat the failure they will just return it to you. Memory test are stress tests and the system will get hot. If the ambient temperature is already high then it will fail due to heat and you may be told to get a laptop cooler.
I have several systems at my location that are mining gridcoin and work fine. If I run the Mersenne prime95 generator I can induce failures on all my systems except for the one that is liquid cooled.
This is just my opinion worth about

Warranty starts from the day it was bought or the day it was delivered. if you did not register the PC then it is from the date it was manufactured. You should have a year worth of warranty ahead of you.

A sporadic RAM test failure followed by a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) during updates likely points to a minor driver glitch, a thermal spike, or a temporary memory read error. Since later runs passed, your RAM is likely okay, but the system needs stability checks.
Immediate Steps to Check Stability
- Restart the laptop and let Windows finish any pending updates.
- Monitor your system temperatures using HP Support Assistant.
- Run the HP hardware diagnostics again to see if the memory error returns.
Why This Happens
- Driver Conflicts: Background updates can clash with older factory drivers, causing a crash.
- Transient RAM Read Error: Heavy multitasking during updates can cause a single false-positive or read failure in extensive memory tests.
- Thermal Activity: Extensive tests run the CPU and RAM at maximum heat, which can trigger brief instability if fans adjust slowly.
What to Do Next
- Keep it updated: Make sure all Windows and HP driver updates install fully without interruption.
- Test again: If another BSOD happens, note the exact stop code on the blue screen.
you can continue the above here
------questions----
Was the extensive memory test the windows one you used or did you run the HP F2 UEFI diagnostics memory test?
If it was the windows memory test then there is additional stress on the system as mentioned above and it is likely windows was updating itself during the test.
If the UEFI test failed then you should be able to make a warranty claim.
It is my personal opinion that any gaming laptop, made by any OEM, should come with a warning that a laptop cooler should be used.

Good day!
To answer your questions:
- The extensive memory test was done in HP UEFI Diagnostics Memory Test.
I also ran a Windows Memory Diagnostics Test. But no errors were found. I ran again an extensive memory test in HP UEFI Diagnostics a few days later when the pass/fail occurred, but in "Loop until error" mode for at least 30 minutes. No errors/fail come up. As of now, the laptop seems fine. No sudden BSOD occurrences. Or any kinds of critical error. May I ask again just to be sure, that based on the conditions that occurred in my laptop still needs a warranty claim?
Thank you for your response!
