I would like to replace a RAM memory on my computer, but I have a question... I ran the command 'wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx' and found that my notebook has a capacity of 32GB of RAM memory. However, I think the computer has two 4GB chips and I wanted to remove one and put in another 16GB chip, but I'm worried about the frequencies with the i5 1235u 1.30GHz processor SO AS TO AVOID BOTTLENECKS. Can anyone tell me at what frequency I can purchase the memory?

Looking at the list of notebooks that fall under that general product number, it appears they come with DDR4-3200 MHz memory.

HP PartSurfer

Unless you install memory in matching capacities in each slot, it will only run 20 GB of memory in single channel mode.

Right now, with 2 x 4 GB of memory, it is running in dual channel mode.

What you want to do will be fine as long as you plan on adding another 16 GB memory chip in the future.

You want DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.

HP only has the service manual for the original model series with the Intel 8th gen core processors, but it may be of help to you for opening up the notebook to replace the memory.

Perfect, i will loose a little performance boost by doing this, but i will have a much faster computer. If I don't change the 4GB memory in the future to one with the same capacity as 16GB, will this damage the computer over time or will I just lose performance?

HP Recommended

You will  not cause any damage to the notebook by running the memory in single channel mode.

Some minor performance degradation not being in dual channel mode is the only result.
