Microsoft Windows 11

I see that in July 2020, this question was asked by another poster. I'd like to know how much RAM I can install on the same make and model of laptop he had, the HP Laptop HP 17 by-1062st. I called HP's Tech Support, who kicked me over to Sales, who kicked back to Tech, and this went on for a bit, literally 2 weeks. (In the meantime, I did my own meticulous research on the matter.). Finally, when I called today, someone in Sales told me my laptop's memory could NOT be upgraded (!), and would I like to buy another laptop instead?

I've seen that there are memory chips available for my type of laptop. Nowhere do I see that there's a problem removing the 8GB chip that came with this model and system, and replacing it with more memory. I'd like to go up to 32GB if possible--and I see that it seems that at least someone else has done this successfully. So my question is: is it truly possibly to go to 32GB on my laptop? I was going to order 2 x 16GB, Corsair Vengeance.

Thanks you to ANYONE who can answer this question because, I gotta say it, I'm pretty hopping mad that reps from HP itself are trying to give me the runaround.

Happy New Year!

You can go here https://www.crucial.com/store/crucial-advisor-trust and look up compatible ram for your laptop.

Alternatively, Windows users can determine the maximum RAM capacity in the Command prompt (Run as Administer) with the command here- "wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity" without the quotes and divide the value by 1024 That will give you the total ammount supported by your laptop.

I wouldn't buy Corsair Vengenance, HP laptops like relaxed memory timings not tighter performance ram. Vanilla memory from Crucial, Samsung or SK Hynix work best.

Pbroussard-- thank you SO much for your swift and informative response! This was GREAT, especially the advice about which manufacturer I should consider (I was on the fence about that decision). Only reason I didn't choose Crucial outright is that, when I went to their site earlier today, their tool wasn't working and I got a touch annoyed again (I'm so totally not like this at all, but it's just been THAT kind of day).

Thank you AGAIN for making this technical task a lot easier and for making my day much better--appreciate it! Happy New Year!
