I am finding conflicting information about this computer. I have read that the memory is upgradeable to 32GB in one place and in another that it has a 4GB memory chip and can't be upgraded.
It is the HP Laptop 15-bs2xx Intel Pentium Silver N5000
Currently with 4GB memory
System SKU 4ND16UA#ABA
When checking memory maximum In Command Prompt it appears as 16777216 2
Does it have two memory slots? Can it take up to 32gb of memory, two 16gb cards? Or can it only go 16gb's, two 8gb cards? Or does it only have one memory slot? If so will that take 16gb?
If so which Memory cards do I purchase and at what Mhz?
Thank you

Hi:
Chapter 1, pages 2 & 3 of the service manual indicates that the notebooks with the Pentium N5000 processors have one memory slot and the max the slot can support is 1 x 4 GB.

I disagree with the total memory capacity listed in the manual.
The notebook should support 1 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory.
The Intel specs indicate the Pentium N5000 processor can support 8 GB of memory.

The Crucial memory report for your notebook also indicates your notebook has one memory slot and can support 1 x 8 GB of memory.

Some of the circuitry on the motherboard is there for a second memory slot, which is why you are getting that false reading of 2 memory slots.
I recommend that you purchase the 8 GB DDR4-2400 memory chip that Crucial indicates is compatible with your notebook.
Also since you have to open the notebook up to replace the memory, now is the time to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).
