Hi
I have a 64GB HP Stream laptop (bought January 2023) and only have a HP Deskjet printer installed and misrosoft office, however, I have less then 20GB memory left. I am wishing to download something that is 20GB and thought that on a 64GB laptop with hardly anything on it, it would be no problem but it's saying insufficient memory as I only apparently have 18BG left out of 64. I have tried disk defragment and disk clean up but can't get above 18GB. Surely the printer and Microsoft Office can't take up over 45GB. If this of right, is there any way I can upgrade the memory on this please? I have tried to contact HP via WhatsApp and messenger and they just kept saying they will connect me to the next available agent since yesterday.

Hi:
Did you click on the Cleanup System Files box in the Windows disk cleanup utility?
If not, you should because that will get rid of additional files.
I also use the free Wise Disk Cleaner utility which will also find other junk files.
Wise Disk Cleaner - Free Disk Cleanup and Defrag Tool (wisecleaner.com)
I combine the advanced cleaner with the general cleaner by checking the box and the slimming system cleaner as well.
If you still can't get enough space, the 14s-Fq0xxx model series has support for a M.2 SATA solid state drive (SSD), so you could install one of those and use the 64 GB non-removable eMMC drive for additional storage.
NVMe SSD's are not supported in the models with the 64 GB eMMC drives, even though the service manual makes no mention of this fact.
Many forum members found that out the hard way.
I recommend one of the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SATA SSD's.
This is the 500 GB model for example:
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the SSD removal and replacement procedures.

You're very welcome.
Windows builds up a lot of junk files.
I have a Stream notebook (11 Pro G4) with a 64 GB eMMC drive that has no expansion options like yours does.
I only have MS Office on mine and it currently sits at about 29 GB of free space.
I can't upgrade the physical memory either.
On yours, if it only comes with a 4 GB memory chip, you can replace that with an 8 GB memory chip, and you may want to do that if you have to install the SATA SSD while you are in there.
I have had to clean install Windows once before because over time the drive fills up with files of who knows what or why.
I think I let it get down to 10 GB when I realized I had to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows from scratch.
That Wise Disk Cleaner program really helps.

I understand your frustration with the limited available memory on your HP Stream laptop. While the printer and Microsoft Office shouldn't consume over 45GB, the operating system and other pre-installed software may take up significant space. Unfortunately, the memory on the HP Stream laptop is not upgradeable as it typically uses eMMC storage. However, you can uninstall any unnecessary applications or move files to an external storage device to free up space. If you're still facing difficulties, contacting HP support via phone or email might provide a more efficient resolution.
