Would I be able to buy a 8 GB memory stick and replace my 4 GB on my HP Notebook - 15-db0011dx ?

Yes, you can upgrade the memory to 8 GB.  Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory:  https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-db0011dx

On Pages 43 and 44 are instructions for replacing the memory.  This is the section for Authorized Service Providers.  If you are not comfortable with working on laptops you should take it to a Service Shop.

The main problem may be the processor.  It is only a Duo-Core.  They are not normally powerful enough for video editing.

I do have another suggestion.  You may want to try updating your Hard Drive (HDD) to a M.2, SSD.  The SSD will not only speed up the boot process, but will increase system performance considerably.  Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for your notebook;  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06245081

On Pages 47 thru 49 is a list of compatible M.2, SSD's and instructions for adding or replacing it.  I believe that you can actually upgrade to a 1 GB without any problems.  You can use the HDD for storage.  So, it is a win all of the way around.

You will find them near the bottom of the page in my link.  Again, if Crucial recommends a product it is guaranteed to work.  I am not certain how much it will help with video editing, but I have no doubt that everything else that you do will be faster and more enjoyable.  I will never ever have another computer without a SSD/M.2 boot drive.
