I have a task to find a compatible memory upgrade for my laptop. I have 12g memory and would like to upgrade to 32g. Is it even possible? The Crucial website said NO for my laptop model. What do you think? Is it true of false?

Hi:
Crucial indicates that your notebook can support 2 x 16 GB of memory.
HP - Compaq ENVY 15m-dr1012dx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
You may as well get the DDR4-3200 memory kit since it is less expensive than the DDR4-2666 memory kit and the DDR4-3200 memory will automatically bridge to 2666 MHz.
Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT2K16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com
You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Here's a service teardown video for the model series which may be of help to you.
