Attempted to upgrade memory from 4GB to 8GB. Laptop would not power on after installing the new 8GB memory module.
Old memory: 4 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)
New memory: 8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) from Crucial
Product documentation indicates that 8GB is supported.
Is there something else that must be done prior to or after installing the new memory? Perhaps a bios update or reset?
TIA

https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr3/ct102464bf160b/ct11717401
If yes, please reseat it properly. Does it work when you put old 4GB back ?
Regards.

Hi Banhien,
Thank you for your response.
The module that I have matches CT102464BF160B but I do not see a configuration Id that matches CT11717401. All of the other specs seem to match up. See attached images.
I also have to place the label side down when I install it, so that the slot lines up with the notch in the memory bank. Does that make a difference?
Yes, it does work when I put the old 4GB memory back in.
Regards.
