Hello,
I have a Pavilion DV6-2120ev laptop.
I wanted to upgrade from the original 4GB to 8GB of ram so I purchased 2x4GB modules for my laptop, same speed & voltage as the stock ones (spare# 598856-001).
Problem is that with the new ones Windows 10 won't start, although they are recognized by Bios (v F.16).
I then realized that the new ones are high density and the old ones low, so maybe that's where the problem is.
I found these:
https://www.datamemorysystems.com/dm50-228-1/
but I can't be 100% sure that they'll work either....
Can anyone give me some specific instructions on what kind of Ram I should look for?
Is it possible that it's a problem with Windows that can somehow be solved?
Thank you

You're very welcome.
One or two 8 GB memory modules will only work if your PC has a 1st gen Intel quad core processor.
With an Intel dual core processor, you can only a 4 GB memory chip in each slot.
1600 MHz memory won't work, because I do not believe that it will downclock two speeds to 1066 MHz.
See this discussion below...It is extremely difficult to find the right memory to work in any HP notebook with an Intel series 5 chipset.
That is why I think you were on the right track with the first memory link you posted.
Here are other memory product suggestions I have if you can get them in your country...

Thank you for the quick reply Paul.
I found a better link from the same site where it lists all modules compatible for my exact laptop model.
https://www.datamemorysystems.com/dms-memory/hewlett-packard/pavilion-dv6-2120ev.htm
The difference is they all run at 1600Mhz PC3-12800, whereas the one I posted before was 1333Mhz PC3-10600.
Will these be ok?
What if I get a single 8GB instead of 2x4GB, will that work also?
Thanks again!

Thank you again Paul.
The links you sent me aren't available to be sold to Greece for some reason, but I got part #s so I can look them up locally.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'll be a happy camper in a few days 😉
Cheers

Use the Crucial System Scanner to see exactly what will work with your computer. You can use the specs listed for their compatible memory on any brand.

Hi, @marmelaki
The only problem with the Crucial scanner idea is that it is going to recommend the very same kind of memory that won't work.
PC3-12800, 1.35V.
That is why I didn't recommend that you use the crucial website to find memory.
It works in almost every case except those with the Intel series 5 chipsets.
