Hello! New to your group and have a couple of questions about possibly upgrading my laptops memory module. It is a model 15-fd0083wm with a N100 processor and one 4gb DDR4 3200 SDRAM SODIMM installed when produced. In the Maint. and Service Guide, chapter1 (Product Desc.), table 1=1, catagory - Memory, it states supports up to 16gb of ram. Two lines after that, it states Supporting the following configurations - 8gb and 4gb of RAM. First question. Is it even possible to replace the 4gb Module with an 8gb Module on this particular model? If yes, is 8gb the largest size I can upgrade to? Is 16gb only possible if there was another available SODIMM slot  for a second 8gb module for a total of 16gb of memory? With the price of RAM these days, I wanted to be certain it could be done ! Thank you for any info you can provide.

The official HP Maintenance and Service Guide table you taking about distinguish between processor types. Your HP 15-fd0083wm with Intel N100 falls under the "1 SODIMM slot" category, explicitly supporting up to 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (single-channel)

For N100 processors like yours:

  • Has Only One SODIMM slot supports up to 16GB total via a single DDR4-3200 module.
  • The "supports the following configurations: 8GB, 4GB" refers to shipped options, not upgrade limits, hardware can handle larger single sticks.

If you want to upgrade to 16GB then get this ram:

  • Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM, Model CT16G4SFRA32A

If you want to upgrade to 8GB then get this ram:

  • Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM, Model CT8G4SFRA32A

Thank you very much, Venom21! I appreciate the quick response and will follow your recommendation to use the Crucial product. Providing the model numbers was really cool! Again, thanks so much!   Tigercub2.
