I have an old HP Pavilion g4-2013tx and I'm planning on upgrading the memory. What is the maximum memory this laptop can take?

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.
2 x 4 GB of memory is supported.

Hi Paul Tikkanen,
Somehow when using HP Support Assistant, the "Additional System Memory Information" under "Operating System Diagnostics", the maximum capacity says 16GB. Is HP Support Assistant erroneous? This is the reason why I'm asking the community which one is which, 8GB max or 16GB? Thank you in advance, Paul.

You're very welcome.
Theoretically, the hardware your notebook has can support 2 x 8 GB of memory, but HP indicates the max is 2 x 4 GB.
I did find this report on the Crucial website for a very similar model to yours...the g4-2013tu, and Crucial does indicate the max is 2 x 8 GB of memory, and gives you compatible memory part numbers to buy.

So, you most likely can run 2 x 8 GB of memory in your notebook if the above report and the HP Support Assistant indicate 16 GB is the max.
