Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wish to max the ram on this 4 year old laptop. Currently installed with 4gb1866 mhz hynix.

HP diagnostics tell me maximum capacity 64gb.

Processor is amd a9-9420 radeon r5, 5 compute cores 2c + 3g, 3000 mhz, 2 core, 2 logical processors.

Most suppliers are telling me that 16 gb (2 x 8's) ddr4 pc4 19200 is the best that can be achieved.

I am confused !

Why would the official HP diagnostic tool say maximum capacity 64gb when nobody else gets anywhere near it ??

I think this is the closest I can get to 'official' hp for this product now. Please advise how I should think about this conundrum and where I can purchase the goodies. With thanks.

It is a 4 years old machine, can't use 64GB. It supports 16GB (2x8GB max). You can use the following compatible RAM (DDR4-1866 dual channel support (DDR4-2400 bridge to DDR4-1866)) as shown on manual

Hello again Banhien. I have been checking alternative offerings and I noted that the image shown in your link is not quite in keeping with the installed 4gb stick. I have inserted a pic but it doesn't look like that is being made available on this post. Maybe it will be visible in some time.

It looks like the slot in your image is placed to the left of center whereas the installed stick is to the right of center.

Will this make a difference ?

Appreciate any further suggestions you may have.

Here's what the HP diagnostics report stated for this 15-bw045na model.

Note the Max Capacity showing 64 GB.

Does anybody have experience of upgrading ram beyond 16gb for this model please?
