HP All-in-One - 22-df0013w
Microsoft Windows 11

Do I buy one (1) or two (2) memory cards when upgrading RAM from 4GB to 16GB on my HP 22 All-in-One? They come in a single 16GB memory card or two (2) 8GB cards. I want to upgrade the memory on my HP All-in-One - 22-df0013w PC.

Hi:

Your PC supports up to 2 x 16 GB of memory.

HP - Compaq HP 22-df0013w All-in-One | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

So, what I would recommend is to buy 1 x 16 GB add it along with the 4 GB chip and have 20 GB.

Then if you decide to upgrade to 32 GB, you just have to remove the 4 GB chip.

This service teardown video seems applicable to your PC:

If you are sure that you would never install 32 GB, then go with the 2 x 8 GB so the memory runs in the better performing dual channel mode.

In order for the memory to run in dual channel mode, it needs to be installed in matching capacities (2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB. 2 x 16 GB...)

Your PC's product specs are below and you can find the memory upgrade info there.

If you decide to install the compatible Crucial memory, these would be the part numbers I recommend:

16 GB:

Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

8 GB:

Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

Check the part numbers on Amazon.

Sometimes they will be a few dollars less.

Its specs

           https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06650061

Its  motherboard  has 2 slots of RAM and supports 32GB (2 x 16GB) max. If you wish to upgrade to 16GB only you can use 2x8GB or 1x16GB

  1. 2x8GB: using compatible RAM such as https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfra266/ct19269420
  2. 1x16GB: using compatible RAM such as https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct16g4sfra266/ct19269440

For (a), you get full benefit of dual channels architecture,

For (b), you can later add 16GB more to have 32GB

Why not pay a bit more to get 32GB now
