14BP072NA Laptop

I have a 14BP072NA laptop with 4gb memory. Can I add an 8gb module to the second slot or must they be matched pairs?

@300az,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

To achieve best RAM performance, it is generally recommended to fit identical RAM (same brand, model and capacity), but yes, you could add an 8GB RAM stick for a total of 12GB RAM.

In order for you to find out what you got, please type in cmd in your Windows search bar, then left-click on the Command Prompt System App, then click on Run as administrator, and Yes to confirm (if it asks for it).

Then copy/paste/enter the following command:

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, manufacturer, partnumber

Using my HP Zbook, you'll see something like this:

NonSequitur777_0-1713976953137.png

This will show you what RAM you got.

Btw, your HP Notebook - 14-bp072na can be upgraded up to 2 x 8GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
