ProBook 450
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to order a client one of the new ProBook 450 G7 i5 laptops, that come with a paltry 8GB of RAM, so I am also getting an 8GB memory module to upgrade the device to 16GB.

1. Trying to find information on the HP support Website is pointless, as they now require us to enter a serial number before we can go any further in the support site.

2. I have managed to find some information about the memory modules and this is where it gets a bit weird, if you ask me. Here :https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06475016#AbT6

This document has some potentially misleading and harmful information regarding memory module upgrades. The document states: "Dual-channel SODIMM slots (both slots are customer accessible/upgradable)". However, on investigation it would appear that the customer is told to remove the entire laptop base and battery (HP also states "NOTE:

Battery is internal and not replaceable by customer.") See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVy3P9HIDvc

Based on this, how can you claim that "both slots are customer accessible/upgradable)"!?

Based on 30-odd years of working in IT, this is definitely not what I'd call customer accessible/upgradable)"!? Your instructions and documentation also, effectively confuse and contradict and make it a risky business, at best.

The problem where HP are failing, across multiple product lines, is that they are assuming the laptops pretty well all come with a "memory module compartment cover". See here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00820047

Why do you have to make this so darned difficult and down right misleading!?

Finally found this maintenance and service guide that confirms my suggestion that HP are directly misleading (intentionally or not) that the memory modules are "customer accessible/upgradable".

They are clearly not.
