Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new computer a month old and for the last week I have consistently obtained several messages. My power cord attaches to the USB C outlet even though it hs a dedicated power outlet. I am not sure why HP provided only this cord.

The messages read

" The attached power source cannot fully power the system. It can only supplement power systems. For full performance use a high...."

" The Smart AC adaptor is too low for this computer. Recommend use HP Power source."

" The USB C is not working please disconnect"

THis all HP original supplied materials

Any suggestions

Thanks

Hello Charles48

Is this for the HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 Notebook?

If so, your best bet will be to contact HP Support directly for warranty issues.

I read one review where if the user didn't have the USB C plug perfectly flush with the port, he would get power cord errors.

The adapter may be faulty as well. According to the specs, both the regular AC adapter and the USB C adapter are rated at 65 watts. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitebook-x360-1030-g2/14169372/document/c05355646#AbT10

Being connected to a docking station will get these errors also. In such case, a 90 watt adapter is needed.

You can run the HP UEFI Diagnostics for Component Tests and test the AC power to see what it reports.

Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly to access the diagnostics center.

Either way, you will want to contact HP via the link below for help with a replacement cord or adapter.

HI

Thanks for the help

I was slow to reply as I was trying it out

It turns out so far that the suggestion to make surethe plug was perfectly flush with the port has seemed to correct the problem for the moment

I have made note of your other suggestions and will certainly contact HP if not better

Thanks again
