HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f0000 (39R26AV)

I inserted a micro SD card into the port on my laptop. As the laptop was not recognising card I tried to extract it but it slipped further in and disappeared inside the computer. This shouldn't happen.

Any idea how to get it out?

Hi @dreambird,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that your micro SD card got stuck inside your HP Spectre X360 laptop. If the card isn't being recognized and has slipped further into the laptop, you should avoid using the laptop further to prevent any potential damage to the internal components. Here are some steps you can take to attempt to resolve the issue.

  • Turn off the laptop: Shut down your laptop immediately to avoid any electrical issues or data loss.
  • Unplug the power source: If your laptop is connected to a power source, unplug it to ensure there is no power running through the system.
  • Tilt and shake the laptop gently: With the laptop turned off, try tilting and gently shaking it in different directions to see if you can hear the micro SD card moving around. Be cautious not to shake it too vigorously, as this could cause other internal damage.
  • Use gravity to your advantage: Try turning the laptop upside down and gently tapping the bottom to encourage the card to slide out if it's just lodged near the opening.
  • Try tweezers or tape: If the micro SD card is still visible near the port opening, you can attempt to remove it with a pair of small tweezers or use tape (sticky side out) to see if you can gently catch the edge of the card and pull it out. Be very careful not to damage any other components in the process.

In the future, when using micro SD cards with laptops, ensure that you insert them carefully and avoid applying excessive force, as they are small and delicate components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
