This is getting so frustrating. Was on with Microsoft support 2 x and they told me it was a HP issue and tried HP 1x - both were allowed into my computer to fix it, and I still don't have my Bang & Olufsen microphone. It's not even showing up as an option. I restored my computer back to well before I had this problem, and the microphone still hasn't shown up. It's like it just disappeared. It's not like I could make do, I need the microphone on the big screen of a computer. It's all been done; can anyone tell me something new?

Hi @NancyLeeP,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve been through quite a bit with this issue. Here are a few more things you could try to get the Bang & Olufsen microphone back.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
- Look under "Audio inputs and outputs" or "Sound, video and game controllers" for any entries related to your microphone. If you see any yellow exclamation marks, there may be a driver issue.
- Try right-clicking on the device and selecting "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" (then restart your laptop and let Windows reinstall the drivers automatically).
Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- Visit HP’s official support website and search for your specific ENVY 17.3-inch model.
- Download and install the latest audio drivers and any associated software for your model. Sometimes a clean reinstall can help.
Check Sound Settings:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds."
- Go to the "Recording" tab and see if the microphone is listed. If it’s listed but disabled, right-click it and select "Enable."
BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or Esc during startup).
- Check if there are any settings related to audio or peripherals that might be disabled. Ensure the microphone is enabled if there's an option for it.
Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Sound.
- Scroll down and click on "Troubleshoot" under "Input" to run the built-in troubleshooter for audio issues.
Hardware Test:
- If your laptop has HP Support Assistant or a similar diagnostic tool, run a hardware test to check if the microphone is recognized at the hardware level.
Restore Default Settings:
- Sometimes, restoring the sound settings to their defaults can help. Go to Settings > System > Sound > Advanced sound options and reset everything to default.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
