The '0' and close bracket button on my HP Pavillion has stopped working for some reason. The other keys are fine, and I have a 0 button on the number pad - which I mostly use for keying in digits - so that is fine, but now I have to bring up the online keyboard whenever I want to type a close bracket which is really frustrating.
I have rebooted, updated the keyboard drivers, I have uninstalled the keyboard and reinstalled it, all to no avail, which makes me think that probably there is a problem with the keyboard itself rather than a software issue. What I would really like to do in this case is to reassign a button that I do not use very often, for example Shift+6 [^] or ` to be a close bracket.
I believe that I can do this using the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre but whenever I open tha up it tells me that no devices have been detected.
Any idea how I can get the software to detect the HP mouse and keyboard and if this is a good solution to the issue?
Alternatively, is there another way of re-assigning individual keyboard keys?
I know I have the option of buying an external keyboard but I would prefer not to do that to save on space and make my laptop more portable.
Thanks in advance.
