Hello!

I would just like to know what the version of the Mini DisplayPort of this laptop is. I'm planning on upgrading my monitor and using it for a few months with my current laptop before I upgrade my PC as well. So, I'd like to know what's the maximum output of the laptop over DP in terms of resolution and refresh rate.

I was able to find the service manual online, but it doesn't specify the version of the port. It says the laptop supports DP 1.2 through the USB-C port, but I'm interested in the DP port itself.

I tried contacting HP support as well, but the cases I open don't seem to be getting anywhere. I only got an automated email saying my case is about to be closed, because I haven't contacted support about it... I did contact them again, but again no feedback whatsoever. I hope someone here will be able to help me out.

Thank you!

Your laptop has a discrete graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB VRAM) module which is HDMI 1.4 ready/DisplayPort 1.2 or greater.

HP did not share any more specifics than that.

Your laptop  is also VR and Mixed Reality ready.

You can connect the Oculus Quest  2 1nd 3 series of MR headsets to the USB type-C port on the laptop.

I found that information in the Maintenance & Service guide for your laptop model series and while perusing the specifications for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 mobile graphics.

From the Maintenance & Service guide

"NVIDIA N17E-G1 (GeForce GTX 1060) with up to
6144 MB of dedicated video memory (256 M ×
32 GDDR5 8 Gbps × 6 PCs, 1.5 V/8 Gbps)
Support G-Sync only Limited to FHD 144
Hz/UHD 60 Hz panel/Core-i7 CPU"

That is about the best information I can provide, given the resources available to me.

Thank you! It's basically the same information I was able to get to, but I appreciate it. Honestly, I doubt official support will be able to tell me anything more. I'm going to assume it 1.2, otherwise they probably would have have put it in the specs.

I got my new monitor the other day. It's a 1440p/240Hz screen. I can output 1440p/120Hz with HDR and G-Sync enabled, so it must be a DP 1.4 port after all. As far I understand, I'm limited to 120Hz because the GTX 1060 doesn't support DSC which is required in order to do 240Hz over DP. That was expected and fine for now. Not sure if this information will be useful to anyone other than myself, but there you go.
