HP Notebook 15-da1013ny
Microsoft Windows 11

I have notebook laptop that has M.2 sata Ssd connected which has completed it's life time.

Now i want to install M.2 Nvme Ssd.

So my question is what maximum storage size of M.2 Nvme i can add to my laptop.

Page 3 of the users manual for your 15-Da1013ny indicates you may have

A single 1tb HDD and a 16gb Optane memory (M.2)

If that is correct then you should replace the Optane with the exact part

Optane memory module, 16 GB L20383-001

the above applies to Intel motherboards only.

If you have only a M.2 SSD then you can clone it to a much bigger one up to 4tb

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/hp-15-da1013ny

It is possible to replace optane memory with an SDD but you would clone the HDD to the new M.2 and then remove the optane and go into the bios and change RST to AHCI .  This may be a problem if that option does not show up in the BIOS.

Use WMIC to find out what drives you have

Also, using the windows command prompt, please run the following command and report back what it reveals

wmic diskdrive get model, size, mediaType, status

for example

My current storage Configuration is 1TB  HDD + 128GB M.2 Sata SSD.

I want to replace 128GB M.2 Sata SSD with New M.2 PCIE SSD.

So here in manual it's written two options for M.2 PCIe Ssd 256GB and 512GB.

Can I install 128GB Nvme PCIe SSD.

Yes, that document (naar very bottom) states

PCIe,  NVMe, M.2

I recommend you use the 1tb Crucial here as they state it is compatible with HP 15-da1013ny

You will need an NVME adapter like this so you can clone your old NVME to the new one.

Make sure is it "M+B" https://www.amazon.com/s?k=usb3+to+nvme+m.2+adapter

Use any free cloning software to clone the 128gb NVMe to the new 1.0 tb with the new NVMe in the adapter.  I used western digital but I think WD checks to see if you have a WD drive..

Then remove the 128 NVMe and put in the new NVMe

Be sure to hold on to the old NVMe  for a few weeks in case the new one fails.

Question:  What tool did you use to determine the NVMe is past its life?   I use Hard Disk Sentinel and the Gen3 NVMe list 3-5 years easily..
