Microsoft Windows 11

In the installed memory datasheet it is rated to 2666Mb/sec. The HP laptop's datasheet says the transfer rate is 2400, and in Windows Control Panel > Performance > RAM it says Speed: 2133.

What is the actual transfer rate here? It is hard to find a suitable memory upgrade with these numbers all over the place.

Hi:

It depends on what model processor your notebook has.

The Intel 8th gen core processors will run memory at a max speed of 2400 MHz.

The Pentium and Celeron processors will run memory at a max speed of 2133 MHz.

OK, I have a model with a Pentium processor. Does this mean that I can run dual channel memory with any 2133+ MHz SODIMM since it will just be downclocked anyways? I have a compatible  2400 MHz stick. If I'm not wrong I can use this and then both the RAMs will be downclocked and ran on the same timing anyways. Or could this lead to problems?

HP Recommended

That shouldn't be a problem at all.

The service manual indicated the notebooks came with DDR4-2400 memory.

HP uses whatever memory they have on hand at the time.

So, they most likely had DDR4-2666 MHz memory because it may have been less expensive than DDR4-2400.
