HP Envy x360 15” 2in1 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop came with the M.2 solid state drive around 256 GB I believe.  I spent a long time trying to find a solid-state drive to upgrade to I decided to pick the Samsung 860 Evo 2.5”.

My laptop has an area  for installing a second hard drive whether it’s an HHD or a SSD,  so I purchased the Samsung 860 Evo and got it in the mail the other day. I opened up my laptop and discovered that there is no bracket to attach the SSD to which shouldn’t be a problem I can purchase one of those easily… The real problem is there is no connector already inside my computer  which really threw me off, the several people had spoken to a different occasions all told me there would be a connector already in the laptop.

I called both HP and Samsung,  HP tried to talk me into buying a solid-state drive from them  and wouldn’t answer any questions I had about installing a third-party SSD.  Samsung was more cooperative, the tech-support I spoke to explain to me that they didn’t sell the connectors or bracket but I could easily find them on Amazon or Newegg and he told me I would need a SATA3 6 gbps cable.

I went to Best Buy to buy the cable and spoke to somebody with geek squad, I showed hI’m a picture of the inside of my laptop and he pointed out to me  that’s a cable I would need would be a ribbon cable with some type of port at the end of it, that would plug-in to the Samsung 860 Evo.

I have been wildly unsuccessful at finding out what part number or even the name of the cable I will need is.  It’s reminding me of the good old days when are used to own a Dell desktop, which in no way allowed you to install any third-party parts.

Can somebody please help me find out what kind of cable I’ll need to install my solid-state drive.  I’m a photographer and I need to be able to upgrade my storage and I am having no luck whatsoever as you can tell. FC6C7765-9BA0-44A9-BC64-E949BEA44BB4.jpeg

I was  able to purchase the ribbon cable connector, thank you. I search for the rubber sleeve and was unable to find it via part number. Will a standard metal bracket for an SSD work?

This one specificly... Insignia SSD Bracket

I purchased the ribbon connector from amazon, that’s where I looked for the rubber sleeve but was unable to find it there or from a google search.

Can you please attach a link from where you bought the ribbon cable.
