Hi, I have re-installed Windows 10 on a 2540p, and resolved all the driver issues except for a "PCI Serial Port" device, identified as:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B67&SUBSYS_7008103C&REV_06\3&B1BFB68&0&B3
It has a physical device object name \Device\NTPNP_PCI0009
I have searched HP and Intel forums and driver support, ran the Intel device driver diag tool, the HP support tool, nothing identifies the device.
I found many web sites offering to identify PCI devices and provide drivers, if only I would trust them and install their driver manager software. None of these seem to have a good reputation.

Hi:
You have to use the W7 driver from your notebook's support page for that device:
Driver - HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook PC | HP® Customer Support
Since this driver installs two devices, if you run it and you get a message that the driver you are attempting to install is older than the currently installed driver, cancel out of the installation.
Go to the device manager.
Click on the PCI serial port device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp59684
Make sure that the Include Subfolders box is checked, and just the PCI Serial Port driver will install without affecting the newer Intel Management Engine Interface driver that W10 installed by default.
