Hi:

See if these drivers work...

SM Bus Controller:   Install this driver first and restart the PC.

This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

PCI Data Acquisition And Signal Processing Controller:

This package contains the driver that enables the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework firmware. Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework provide system temperature and power utilization information for the system thermal protection to function properly. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

The unknown devices will be installed by the chipset and DTPF drivers.

Guys, everything went fine. U helped me a lot. In have no words to thank You. Every driver I wrote is recognized now.

One problem is still existing. I cant connect through wireless. I have red cross just like the wireless is turned off. Do I need some program to start it or something else?

You're very welcome.

I was afraid you were going to tell me that.

I have not heard of one person on this forum with the Intel 3168 AC adapter that installed W7, being able to get the stupid thing to work.

There are no additional drivers or software needed to work the card.  It should have just worked.

What happens when you press the F12 key?  The one with the little airplane icon on the key.

That is the key that turns the wifi card on or off.

Nothing happened. I tried to push it with and without FN key, but nothing.

Any other solution?

Unfortunately, none that I know of.

All the others gave up and installed W10 on which that wifi adapter worked just fine with no problems at all.

@Paul_Tikkanen

Just a thought but- is there an HP Wireless button driver that works in Windows 7?

Hi, Cheryl:

There isn't one for W7, nor is there missing hardware that would indicate the need for the WB driver.

If there was, there would be an Unknown Device showing up in the device manager with a hardware ID of ACPI\HPQ6001.

I thought that perhaps the HP connection manager software would work but I don't think that would matter either.

I write that because the HP Connection manager software turns on the wifi and turns it off, and if it is off, the wifi hardware doesn't even show up in the device manager.

Unless there is some crazy BIOS setting I am not aware of that needs to be changed for the wireless to work on W7, I am completely stumped.

At least 10 forum members have installed W7 with that wifi adapter with 0% being able to get it to work.

When they installed, W10, 100% stated the 3168 AC wifi adapter immediately worked just fine.

So, it begs the question...what is keeping it from working?

If it was some kind of Microssoft thing, then Intel just wouldn't make any other drivers for it except for W10.

Since they make W7 drivers for the 3168 AC wifi adapter, one would think it should work, but it doesn't.

Obviously I will have to install W10. But tnx anyway. I appreciate what you've been doing so much.
