Elitebook 2560p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi All,

Seek your advice for upgrading my old elitebook 2560p.

Existing, i installed 2x 4 GB DDR3 10600 .

I need to upgrade ,but i want to do it partially, so i want to install new 8GB DDR3 + existing 4 GB DDR3 = 12GB. can i mix the ram size ? Or it must be identical size?

Thank you

Hi:

Yes, you can configure the memory like that, but it will run in the lower performing single channel mode.

Right now, your notebook's memory is running in the higher performing dual channel mode since you have 2 x 4 GB of memory installed.

Someday, install a second 8 GB memory chip, so you have 16 GB running in dual channel mode.
