Model 15-w110nr laptop with a 256 GB SSD drive. What are qualified SSD drives for capacity upgrade?
Also, do I need to do anything more than clone the existing drive and install it to effect the upgrade?

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.
Your notebook's M.2 slot supports SATA M.2 SSD's only, not NVMe.
HP only offered a 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD in the model series, but I don't know of any reason why a SSDS up to 1 TB wouldn't work.
I recommend the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SSD in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.
You shouldn't have to do anything beyond cloning the drive. It's plug and play.
Make sure your cloning software has an option to clone the drive's contents from a smaller capacity drive to a larger one, or you will end up with a good deal of unallocated space.
