I have a new notebook HP 250 G10 and a new HP Travel USB-C Multi Port Hub. When connecting a monitor Lenovo ThinkVision, it says "no input signal". I tried to use both HDMI and VGA connectors. The monitor is quite old (2015/08/10), but it works properly, when I connect it directly to the notebook via HDMI. Is my  HP Travel USB-C Multi Port Hub wrong  or is there any other problem?

Thank for help.

Hi @PetrDus

When encountering a "no input signal" error with your Lenovo ThinkVision monitor connected through the HP Travel USB-C Multi Port Hub, consider the following troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue:

  1. Verify Hub Compatibility:

    • Ensure that the HP Travel USB-C Multi Port Hub is compatible with your HP 250 G10 notebook. Check the product specifications on the HP Support website to confirm compatibility.
  2. Test Direct Connection:

    • Since the monitor works when directly connected via HDMI to the notebook, this indicates that both the monitor and HDMI cable are functioning correctly.
  3. Troubleshoot with Different Ports:

    • Attempt to connect the monitor using a different port on the hub (if available), such as USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to VGA to see if there are different results.
  4. Update Drivers and Firmware:

    • Check both your notebook’s and the hub's firmware for updates. Visit the HP Support page to download any available updates for the USB-C port drivers or hub firmware.
  5. Check Display Settings:

    • Ensure your notebook is set to detect external displays. Go to 'Display Settings' on your notebook and select 'Detect' to find connected displays.
    • Adjust the display mode (e.g., Duplicate, Extend) that suits your setup.
  6. Troubleshoot Power Issues:

    • Verify that the USB-C hub is connected to a power source if it requires external power, as some hubs may need this for full functionality, especially when multi-port adapters are used.
  7. Perform a Hardware Reset:

    • If applicable, perform a hardware reset on your notebook to refresh the system's recognition of connected peripherals.

If the problem persists after these steps, the issue might be with the HP Travel USB-C Multi Port Hub itself. In that case, consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance or explore warranty options if your hub is within warranty.
