HP Pavilion 15-ck069tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was thinking of installing an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD on my device (HP Pavilion 15-ck069tx) so I decided to check if I have the compatible PCIe bus (i.e the PCIe v3.0 x4 (8.0 GT/s) bus) free. Hence I installed the HWiNFO64 on my device and when I went through the bus section, I found that all my  PCI Express Root Ports (#1,#5 & #6[A1/C1]) said "YES" under "Slot implemented". Later I noticed that the PCIe v3.0 x4 (8.0 GT/s) bus is being used by my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce Mx130 2GB), but it says PCIe v3.0 x4 (8.0 GT/s) @ [DISABLED].

Now I cannot understand whether an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD will give me its peak performance or not due to the unavailability of the  PCIe v3.0 x4 (8.0 GT/s) bus. Please help me to understand it better and make a decision regarding the same.

Regards,

Tanay

@tanay_mayee

Unfortunately manual does not say much, only (for pre installed machines)

Support for the following solid-state drives:

  • 512-GB, M.2, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) solid-state drive
  • 512-GB, M.2, SATA solid-state drive with triple level cell (TLC)
  • 360-GB, M.2, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive with TLC
  • 256-GB, M.2, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive
  • 256-GB, M.2, SATA solid-state drive with TLC
  • 128-GB, M.2, SATA solid-state drive with TLC ...

Regards.

Thank you @Banhien for your immediate response, but unfortunately, that's not what I was looking for. I've already gone through the manual that you have attached in the reply and the compatible solid state drives with my device. Instead, I wanted some more information specifically with respect to the issue regarding  the PCIe v3.0 x4 bus as described in detail in my earlier post.

Tanay
