Hello Community!
I've got this HP Notebook 15-af006au. Motherboard 80CB 99.53. Processor AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics.
Apparently, I have faulty graphics, so I was looking at the option of installing a discrete graphics card.
But I can't find the specifications of this motherboard.
How can I find out what other GPUs are compatible with this motherboard and processor??
Thank y'all for your help!

You're very welcome.
Yes, from what you are describing, it sounds like the APU is overheating and has become damaged if it won't accept the driver.
The only other possible problem is that you are using the driver directly from AMD and that causes problems such as what you are describing.
So, make sure you install the HP AMD Windows 10 graphics driver from your notebook's support page, if you are running W10.

Your notebook's motherboard is the one that has the AMD A8-7410 processor, which means the processor and GPU are integrated into one unit called an APU.
If you look at this eBay listing for the motherboard your notebook has, you can see the processor (APU) is above the empty memory slots.

Hi:
The processor and graphics adapters are integral parts of the motherboard.
If your PC's graphics is not working properly due to a hardware issue, your only option would be to replace the motherboard.
Below is the link to the parts list for your notebook:
The motherboard part number and description you need is:

Hey Paul! Thanks so much for your reply.
Does getting a new motherboard mean that I'd also need to get the processor and graphic card, because they wouldn't come already installed in the new board, would they?

Ok. Thanks so much.
I thought so. But I asked because I found one in AliExpress that it said CPU not included, so I got confused....
Anyways, I'll check that out.
Thanks again!!
PS: By the way. May I get your opinion on the following?
The problem I have with the laptop is that it freezes every 3 seconds for 1 second, nonstop, forever. It's only solved when I change the Display to "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" the problem with this is that it does not have HDMI support which I need because the other problem it got is the screen flickering.
I changed HDD (because I was getting a warning that it wasn't in good working condition and run tests that didn't pass. So I thought that was the issue, but it wasn't), I clean installed windows in that formatted HDD, upgraded/downgraded graphic drivers, etc...
Does that sound to you like the solution should be to change the motherboard?

HO
LLY
**bleep**!!
Well, that worked, I which I came here before... I was looking at the wrong driver in the wrong place... That solved the freezing... And I got back the HDMI. Brilliant! Genius!
However.... When I restart the computer I get the message from the Catalyst Install manager "No AMD graphics drivers installed" and it launches again the manager to do the installation again, making the start of the laptop incredibly slow. It does that even though it did install the driver.
When trying to uninstall the Catalyst manager it sends me the message that "This will remove ALL AMD driver and application components. They may include graphics drivers, audio drivers and software components such as Control Center".
There are 2 options to uninstall. Express or Custom, both give me that message, which is scary.
So, how do I uninstall the installation manager, so it doesn't lunch at every start without losing the drivers? Or any other idea to stop that thing from launching every time?
Thanks again for your time Paul. Your help has been awesome.

You're very welcome.
Sorry that the driver didn't work perfectly.
See if this works...You don't really need the catalyst software anyway.
Select the custom uninstall option and see if you can just uninstall the catalyst software.
Restart the PC.
If it also removes the graphics driver and sends the display adapter back to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, do this:
Go to the device manager. Click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.
Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the AMD graphics driver I posted.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp72394.
Make sure that the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then under the sound, video and game controllers device manager category, there should be two audio devices listed (Realtek and if the AMD HDMI audio driver got uninstalled, there will be a second device labeled HD audio device.
Click on that device and follow the same procedure to install the AMD HDMI audio driver.
Then restart the PC and hopefully your PC will be working again but no catalyst software.

I'm writing from my phone now...
So, the custom installation did not work. When uninstalling it shows a Windows with all the things is going to uninstall without the chance of "unselect" them. These are:
AMD HDMI Audio Driver
AMD User Experience
AMD streaming Audio Filter
AMD settings
Branding 64
I then selected
AMD Catalyst Control Center
Click uninstall and at the end it did not uninstall the manager...
Then I selected the other option that would uninstall all drivers in the laptop... I panicked and canceled in the middle of the process. And then it showed me a window asking "Do you want to uninstall the manager? " Which I replied hell yeah!
So at that point was finally uninstalled, and so it was the display driver.
I followed the process of updating the driver with that process. And the message was that I have the last version of the driver but it wasn't the right driver. (When you go to upgrade driver, browse from my computer, then show a list of drivers. It was not there anymore, the list was all the drivers that didn't work).
The freezing starter again. I tried again with the rest of the drivers, more freezing. I then restarted the computer.
And here's the worst part. After computer computer restarted and when you click to enter your PIN, the following message appears.
"Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again"
And when I clicked "Set up my PIN" the window with load and come back to the same message and do nothing...
Turned it off, cursed a bit, turned it on.. Started writing this message. Clicked "set up my PIN" And then a Microsoft account windows appears. I could set up my PIN and I'm back in.
The freezing is still there so I proceed to install the driver again. But it uses the Catalyst Install manager to install all the drivers, that so is the. exe file. It's the Catalyst manager with the option of installing drivers.
So, now, I've installed the drivers again. Restarted the computer, PIN is OK I'm in. There's no freezing. I see the driver in the list of drivers, is installed. Everything seem to be working fine.
I didn't get the message of No AMD driver is installed. But... The Catalyst keep launching at the start....
So, apparently I can't get rid of that Catalyst, without deleting the drivers and I can't stop it from launching at the start. Weird...
Any ideas?? At least the laptop works!! That is a good thing! I reckon a slow start and the launching of the catalyst is less annoying than the constant freezing
If any other ideas of how to get rid of the Catalyst arises please let me know!
Thank Paul, I owe you a beer! 😁

You're very welcome.
I have never experienced a problem like you are having.
I guess you will have to leave it as it is for now.
The only other thing you can try is to run the msconfig utility and see if you can disable the CCC in the task manager..
Maybe that will stop it from launching or if there is a running process to install the file disable it.
